Boost for science cooperation between central asian countries

Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has approved the establishment of ECO science and technology office in Kazakhstan in abid to promote science cooperation between ECO member countries.
This was announced at the 19th meeting of ECO's regional planning council held in Tehran, Iran in the period from 12-14 January.
Located in Almaty, the office will coordinate the scientific interaction of the 10 ECO member-states including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It will also promote exchange of knowledge and technology between the ECO scientific research centers.
The office will organise symposia, conferences and workshops, public lectures, discussions and will work
with the local media to promote public understanding of science.
