We are looking for an exceptional individual to manage the informatics of a high- throughput sequencing facility.

KAUST is an interdisciplinary graduate research university, opening in September 2009. Through its exceptional faculty, students and environment, it aims to establish a new age of scientific achievement and understanding that will benefit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the region and the world. Your role will be to lead the informatics group, working as a team with specialist research groups within the Computational Bioscience Research Center, Plant Stress Genomic and Technology Research Center, Red Sea Science and Engineering Research Center as well as their collaborators around the world.

KAUST's Core Facilities include a series of specialist labs dedicated to DNA sequencing, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and imaging that form the operational heart of research collaboration in KAUST. You will be heading a team of 10 specialists, programmers and informaticians parallel to the genome sequencing core lab. You and your team will deliver high quality genomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic and proteomic datasets that will serve as basis for downstream functional analyses on a variety of microbial, plant and animal systems.

You should hold a PhD or equivalent with experience chiefly in DNA/RNA sequencing using ABI, 454 and Illumina systems, their primary software and associated packages. You should be experienced in and capable of leading a team of specialists working on genome organization, annotation, gene
finding/identification, gene structure, alternative splicing, analysis of repeats, sequence analysis, comparative genomics, comparative proteomics and evolutionary genomics. Familiarity with common proteomic software packages would be desirable.
